Throughout the year, 51ºÚÁÏ monitors weather conditions that may affect the operation of its campuses and clinics.

Any decisions to close campuses and clinics or limit operations will be made by the university’s Inclement Weather Committee. Led by the Office of Finance & Administration and the Facilities Department, the committee includes representatives from the President’s Council, Human Resources, Campus Public Safety, Student Affairs, and all academic units. 

The committee considers several factors in making its decisions, including, but not limited to, local weather conditions and forecasts, the safety of students, faculty and staff to travel to and from our campuses, and weather-related decisions made by other local agencies.

Decisions on closures and delays may vary by location (conditions in Forest Grove may be different than they are in Hillsboro or Portland). Whenever possible, the university will communicate closures or delays by no later than 7 a.m.

How Inclement Weather Decisions Are Communicated
• News post on the 51ºÚÁÏ website
• Through Boxer Alerts, the university’s mobile text alert system | Sign Up For Boxer Alerts. Boxer Alerts will be posted in both English and Spanish
• Through the Flash Alert notification system |  
• Residential students on the Forest Grove campus will also receive emails detailing operations for residence halls, dining services, and the Stoller Center. Signage will also be posted in the University Center.

Notices of closures or delays will be communicated to the following media outlets:
Portland TV Stations: KATU 2 (ABC), KOIN 6 (CBS), KGW 8 (NBC), KPTV 12 (Fox)
Portland Radio Stations: KEX (1190 AM), KOPB-FM (91.5), KXL-FM (101.1)

Types Of Announcements
Closed: 51ºÚÁÏ campuses and clinics are closed. No classes will be held. Dining services will be provided but may be on an altered schedule. Only essential employees (such as Campus Public Safety, Facilities, Dining Services and residence hall staff) are required to work. 

Remote: Campuses are closed (and follow closed protocols) with the exception of classes that may be held online. Check with your specific academic program.

Delayed: The university will resume normal operations following the delay. Delayed start times will vary and will be posted.

Durante todo el año, 51ºÚÁÏ monitorea las condiciones climáticas que pueden afectar el funcionamiento de sus campus y clínicas.

El Comité de Inclemencias del Tiempo de la universidad tomará cualquier decisión de cerrar campus y clínicas o limitar las operaciones. Tipos de anuncios
